Mrs. Betsy Burke Watkins
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Betsy Burke Watkins , 77, formerly of Washington Street in Burlington, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at the Hospice Home of Burlington.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and held a great deal of compassion in taking care of her parents before their death.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Chappell Donovan of Mebane; a son, Garry B. Chappell and wife, Helen, of Graham; a sister, Dora Anne Butler of Burlington; brothers, Norman L. "Spider" Burke and Robert C. Burke , both of Burlington, Henry H. Burke of Columbia, S.C., and Raymond L. Burke of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Watkins ; her parents, Claude W. Burke and Flora Nicks Burke ; three brothers; three sisters; and a great-grandchild, Paul Barbour.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2007, at the Mc-Clure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Ralph Rivers.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C., 27215.
