Obituary Online notes for Gladys Irene GUTHRIE
ASHEBORO - Gladys Guthrie Pugh, 88, of 2713 Bruce Pugh Rd., Franklinville, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at UNC Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bart W. Milleson and the Rev. Frank Jarvis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Alamance County, Mrs. Pugh was a retired teacher and librarian at Grays Chapel School, where she was the founder of the school library. She was a member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was also the founder of the church library, the first female Sunday School Superintendent, and also taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for several years. She was the first president and a charter member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors are her husband, G. Bruce Pugh of Bruce Pugh Rd., Franklinville; daughters, Louise Pugh Corder of Bruce Pugh Rd., Franklinville, Emma Pugh Routh of Old Liberty Rd., Franklinville; grandsons, Dan Corder, Greg Corder, Rod Corder, Jed Routh; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Everett Revere (Edith) Mogle of Snow Camp, Mrs. Ladd Watus (Margaret) Fuquay of Burlington, and Mrs. Vernon J (Audrey) Moon of Graham. 470, Gladys Irene Guthrie Pugh
