Brushy Knob Scribbles

The people of this settlement was suddenly aroused by the sudden death of old uncle Jacob Holt. He was well as common Friday morning, hoed a few potatoes, and went in the evening to Vera Cruz on business. He ate a hearty supper and went to bed as well as usual. He awoke his wife by getting up and passing out of the room. When he returned, on coming back to bed complained that he was cold. His wife inquired what was the matter and he said he hurt all over. She spoke to him again and he didn't answer. On finding out that he could not speak, got up and by the lamp, called their son Ben Holt. This was at 3 o'clock in the morning, and he died at half past six. They never could arouse him to conciousness after the first relapse. The remains of the dear old uncle was carried to Clifty Hall this morning where the funeral will be. He was 87 years old. He leaves a wife and several children and grand children and friends to mourn his departure.
