 BURLINGTON — Luther Lafayette Isley Jr., 89, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at ARMC.
 
 He was born July 28, 1925, in Guilford College, to the late Luther Lafayette Isley Sr. and Mary Huffines Isley. Luther served his country with the Army’s 29th Division, landing on Omaha Beach in the D-Day Invasion of France and, in a later excursion, earned a Purple Heart. In his early career, he worked at Western Electric in Burlington. In the 1960s, he and his wife founded Laura Pillow Co., making custom-made draperies and home accessories. In the late 1970s, he began pursuing his passion of farming pick-your-own fruits and vegetables on the family farm located in the Friendship community of Alamance County. Luther also enjoyed his daily Bojangles outing, meeting friends and the wonderful employees of the restaurant.
 
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Kirkman Isley.
 
 He is survived by children, Vivian Isley Harrington (Joe) of Whispering Pines, Dickie Luther Isley (Vickie) of Burlington, Beverly Isley Odum (Chuck) of Gibsonville and Jill Isley Staley (Randy) of Liberty; 10 grandchildren, Lara Harrington Mooneyham, Robin Isley Duggins, David Lawson Harrington, Matthew Sean Isley, Jessie Michael Nikitin, Eric Laurence Odum, Rodger Lee Staley, Abby Lynn Staley, Brad Wesley Staley, Jacob Walter Staley; seven great-grandchildren, Isley and Ava Duggins, Caligan Isley, Justin and Jameson Mooneyham, Lawson Harrington and Levi Nikitin; three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Isley and Mrs. Sarah Maude Foster, both of Greensboro, and Mrs. Mary Lou Windsor of Winston-Salem.
 
 He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ruth Isley.
 
 A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
