ELON — Verona Daniels Danieley, age 87, of 3 Hickory Dr., Elon, passed away at 5:04 p.m. Friday June 24, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of Carteret County, she was the daughter of Herman Burton and Tennie Lupton Daniels and the wife of Dr. J. Earl Danieley. She was a former educator and homemaker, a member of Elon Community Church and received her A.B. degree from Elon College.
She is survived by her husband, J. Earl Danieley, of the home; children, Ned Danieley and wife Linda of Hillsborough, Mark Danieley and wife Heidi of Burlington and Jane Shutt and husband Mark of Pineville; and seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel and Mark Shutt, Robert and Sara Danieley and Sean and Jason Pifer.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Elon Community Church by the Rev. Randy Orwig and the Rev. John G. Truitt, Jr. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Danieley will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church for services. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Verona Daniels Danieley Scholarship Fund or the Daniels-Danieley Award for Excellence in Teaching at Elon University, c/o University Advancement, 2600 Campus Box, Elon, NC 27244.
