Mr. Forrest Ray Bland
ELON — Mr. Forrest Ray Bland, 78, of 1769 Prince Edward Drive, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after an illness of six months.
A native of Pitt County, he was the husband of the late Ruby Cook Bland, and the son of the late Joseph B. Bland and Susie Palmore Bland. He was retired from Cone Mills Transportation and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Bland Wright and husband, Rickey, of Concord and Mrs. Gail Bland Porter and husband, David, of Burlington; five grandchildren, Michael Perry of Graham, Leslie Foster of Mebane, Christy Rogers of Burlington, Rickey Wright II of Concord, and Cassandra Wright Roberts of Fuquay-Varina; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; and four sisters.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. George M. Phillips Jr. of Zion Christian Church, and Mr. Billy Allen, of People’s Memorial Christian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence of a daughter, Gail Porter, 1350 Springdale Drive, Burlington.
