Betsy Patterson Lynch
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Betsy Patterson Lynch, 81, of 1212 Edgewood Avenue, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Edgar Pershing Lynch and the daughter of the late John Patterson and the late Anthea Clapp Patterson.
Betsy was a legal secretary for Attorney W.D. Madry and later in her career she continued her professions with S.W. Dameron Jr., Attorney. She was a charter member of the Legal Secretaries Association. She was a former member of the Burlington Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was named Woman of the Year of BEGA Chapter. This award is selected based on the member’s achievement in her field of business, education, participation in the Association and in community activities.
Her life was filled with music, beginning at Burlington High School where she graduated in 1950. There she was active in singing, stage shows and programs. She attended Meredith College, Burlington Business College and Elon College.
Music was a special hobby and she worked for the promotion of music in Burlington through the Burlington Music Club. She served as past president, vice-president, treasurer and as chairman of the Yearbook Committee, annual banquet and Finance Committee. She was guest solo performer on the Burlington Music Club radio program from 1955 until 1966.

Sylvia Patterson Johnson of Gibsonville, Peggie Gilliam Powell of High Point, Marvin Patterson of Elon, Clark Patterson of Burlington, Gayle Patterson Efird of Alamance County, Holt Faucette of Elon, Phil Faucette of Burlington, Trudy Faucette Aiken of Burlington, Sharon Patterson of Elon, Cindy Morris of Louisville, N.C., Bobby Leath of Burlington, Margaret Simmons of Elon; and numerous other cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 3 p.m. at First Christian United Church of Christ, where she was a former member of the choir and a member of the church Finance Committee. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Pickett. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence immediately following the service.
