Mrs. Betty G. Jones Barr

WILMINGTON — Mrs. Betty G. Jones Barr, 76, of 5005 Trailing Vine Lane, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center. Born Dec. 2, 1924, in Alamance County, she was the wife of Mr. William D. Barr, who survives, and the late Mr. Robert L. “Bobby” Jones. She was the daughter of Mr. James Dover Gerringer and Mrs. Lillian Estelle Pritchard Gerringer, both deceased. She was a retired bookkeeper of A&P Tea Co., and was a member of Harbor United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post
No. 10.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include three daughters, Ms. Sandra J. King of Burlington, Ms. Debbie J. Leigh of Gibsonville and Ms. Anne B. Lewis of Wilmington; a son, Mr. Michael D. Barr of Raleigh; three sisters, Ms. Kathleen Warren of Morehead City, Ms. Opal Stanley of Burlington and Ms. Maxine Crisco of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Ellen Jones Foust.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, in Wilmington by the Rev. D. Ray Warren. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Alamance Memorial Gardens in Burlington.
