ELON COLLEGE - Robert Bruce Foster, Sr., 72, of 2483 Ossipee Front Street, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Alamance, after two weeks critical illness.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Bethlehem Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was born in Alamance County, the son of the late Lonzie Edmond Foster, Sr. and the late Myrtle Dodson Foster. He was the former owner and operator of Fosco Service Station, owner and operator of Fosters' Trailer Park and farmer in the community. He was a former board member and chairman of the Ossipee Sanitary District and presently a consultant to the board. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and the president of the Alamance County Tax Payers Association.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Bruce and Georgene Foster, Jr. of Burlington; one grandchild, Miss Jennifer Foster; four step-grandchildren, Mrs. Janine Everett, Howard Stoddard, Miss Jennifer Simmons and Jayson Stoddard; three step-great-grandchildren, Christian Stoddard, Anthony Patrick Everett and Miss Andrea Rose Everett; one sister, Mrs. William A. (Dot) Stanfield of Elon College; one brother, Lonzie Edmond "Jack" Foster, Jr. of Elon College.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret Shaw Foster.
Mr. Foster will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Lowe Funeral Home. Other times, the family will be at the home of the sister, Mrs. William A.
