Ann Matkins Wilkins

GREENSBORO – Ann Matkins Wilkins, age 85, passed away on December 26, 2017 at Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Center.

Ann was born in Elon, NC to Eugene C. and Lois H. Matkins on June 11, 1932. She graduated from Elon University with a B.A. degree in Primary Education. She was married to her great love, Charles Jeter Wilkins, for 64 years. Ann loved traveling, especially to the beach and mountains, with her family. Ann was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter J in Greensboro.
Ann was a beloved wife, sister, mother, family member and friend. She will be missed.
Ann is survived by her husband, Charles Jeter Wilkins of the home; siblings, June M. Poole, of Rockwell, NC and Eugene H. Matkins of Tullahoma, TN; children, Carol W. Sineath (Tom) of Burlington, NC, Sandy W. Valinis (Michael) of Worthington, OH, and Charles (Chuck) J. Wilkins, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Stewart Sineath, Charlotte Crone (Tim), Lindsey Rowe (Parker), Blake Cummings (Becky), Rachel Walter (Stephen) and Charles (Charlie) Wilkins; six great-grandchildren and many very special nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Vinay Gudena and the staff at the Regional Cancer Center as well as the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Pastors’ Discretionary Fund at Christ United Methodist Church, 410 N. Holden Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
