OBITUARIES Maybell Carter Lowe 

    ELON — Mrs. Maybell Carter Lowe , 90, of 411 West Haggard Avenue, Elon, died at Edgewood Place of Burlington on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 9:19 p.m.

    A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Mack D. Carter  and Jason R. Lowe , and the daughter of Robert Cook and Roxie Gerringer Cook, both deceased.

She was a member of Gibsonville Christian Church. She was very proud that her hard work in her lawn and garden areas once won the Yard of the Month award in Elon.

    Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jean Clapp Barham and husband, Bill, of Burlington and Diana Carter  Merricks and husband, J.C., of Burlington; three sisters, Irene Lamb and husband, Pete, of High Point, Beulah Mabe of High Point, and Violet Johnson of Burlington; six grandchildren, Randy Clapp, Tim Clapp, Mike Clapp, Jeff Clapp, Curt Merricks, and Dena Merricks; three stepgrandchildren, Kathy Freeman, Billy Barham, and Joe Merricks; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and five greatgreat-grandchildren.

    The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Allen Kent, and the Rev. Hobert Isley.

Burial will follow the service in Pine Hill Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times they will be at the residence.
    The family would like to express their thanks to the caring staff of Edgewood Place, with a special thanks to Elsay.
