Violet Annie Lee Cook Johnson
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Violet Annie Lee Cook Johnson, 87, of Burlington Manor died Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11:37 a.m.
A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of Robert Cook and Roxie Gerringer Cook, both deceased. She retired from Copland Fabrics.
Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Vance (Clark) of Graham, Joyce Fender of Gibsonville, Gale Gerner and Dorene Cole (Tony), all of Burlington; three sons, Bud Johnson (Diane) of Gibsonville, Dean Johnson (Candy) of Graham and Dennis Johnson (Dawn) of Burlington; two sisters, Beulah Mabe and Irene Lamb, both of High Point; special friends at Burlington Manor, Joe Jones and Leota Wilson; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by three sons-in-law, Jim Fender, Donnie Isley and Junior Gerner; four sisters, Zonia Wyrick, Lydia Apple, Maggie Tate and Maybell Lowe; and three brothers, Ralis Cook, Rufus Cook and Ralph Cook.
The funeral service will be conducted at Wicker Street Baptist Church on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Tommy Love. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich &Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence of a daughter, Joyce Fender, 1000 Springwood Avenue, Gibsonville, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Burlington Manor and Hospice workers, Robin Kale, Susan Crisp, Glenda Agnew and Linda Bradsher.
