COLUMBIA, TENN.-
Mrs. Beatrice “Beaty” Wilkins Smith, 81, of Rolling Fields Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Maury Regional Hospital.
A native of Haw RIver, she was the wife of Mr. Edward F. Smith Sr., who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Java Cleveland WIlkins and Mrs. Ida Gilliam WIlkins, both deceased. She was a graduate of Elon College and had lived in Columbia since 1951. She was a retired school teacher and taught at McDowell Elementary school for 25 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Maury county retired teachers assoc., Delta Kappa Gamma, Jane Knox chapter, Daughters of American Revolution, Maury county chapter, A.P.T.A., and Cheekwood Assoc. and had volunteered for meals on wheels for several years.
Survivors other than her husband of Columbia include two sons, Mr. Edward Fields Smith Jr. of nashville, TN., and Mr. James Cleveland Smith of Clarksville, TN., and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 pm Saturday at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Bill Williamson. The family will be at the church following the service.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Maury County Senior Citizens or meals on Wheels program.
