Vester "Buddy" Small
BURLINGTON — Vester "Buddy" Small, age 95, formerly of Burlington, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh. He was a native of Alamance County, and the husband of the late Alice West Small.
Buddy was employed for many years with Virginia Mills located in Swepsonville and in recent years he was employed with Wilson Electric. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Elon and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Alicia Small Hunter and her husband, Tom, of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, John W. and Emma Collins Small; nine brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elon by the Rev. Mark Mofield. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church of Elon, 621 E. Haggard Avenue, Elon, N.C. 27244.
