Melvin Daniel Allred
ELON — Melvin Daniel Allred, age 67, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at his home after one week of critical illness. Melvin was born Sept. 15, 1941, in Alamance County, but lived a majority of his life in Caswell County on the farm that he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Myrtle Allred.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patsy Davis Allred, and by their four sons, Steve Allred and Deana Staley, of Elon, Jerry Allred and his wife, Michelle, of Burlington, Ronnie Allred and his wife, Jennifer, of Elon, and Ricky Allred and his wife, Tonya, of Elon; nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Melvin is survived by three brothers, Delmar Allred and his wife, Brenda, of Elon, Johnny Allred and Faye Davis, of Burlington, and Claude Allred and his wife, Linda, of Burlington.
The Allred family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses of Hospice, ARMC and the Cancer Center for their compassionate care for Melvin during his illness.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Concord Christian Church where Melvin was a lifetime member, by Pastor Keith Murray and the burial will follow in the church cemetery.
