James Edward Wallace 

    ELON — James  Edward Wallace , age 56, of 3141 Altamahaw Race Track Road, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

    A native of Person County, he was son of the late Hubert Auther and Myrtle Tucker Wallace , and husband of Mendy Saul Wallace  who survives.

Mr. Wallace  was reared at the Elon Homes for Children. He was a line supervisor with GKN, a member of Glencoe Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, former president of the Western Alamance High School Boosters, and an avid fisherman.

    He is survived by his wife, Mendy Saul Wallace  of the home; daughter, Deena Wallace  Gilliam and husband, Jason; son, Michael Glenn Wallace  and wife, Paula; grandchildren, Alston, Bayleigh, Ethan and Presley; brothers, Robert Lee Wallace  Sr. of Ringgold, Va., Fleetwood Everett Wallace  of Semora, Hubert "Tom" Wallace  of Roxboro, and N. Lawrence Wallace  of Burlington; sisters, Mamie Wallace Snow of Mauldin, S.C. and Mary Wallace  Turner of Burlington.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James  Edward Wallace  Jr.; brother, Prince Auther Wallace ; and sister, Shirley Ann Harn.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at the Glencoe Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Massey, pastor.

Interment will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery.

Mr. Wallace  will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
    The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
