Mr. Robert Washington Simmons

ELON COLLEGE — Mr. Robert Washington Simmons, 79, of 727 Simmons Road, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at the Hospice Home.

A native of Caswell County, he was the son of Mr. Berry Washington Simmons and Mrs. Bertha Minor Simmons, both deceased.

He was a retired farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.

He attended Concord Christian Church.

Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Hattie Smith of Elon College, Mrs. Edna (Kenneth) Faison, Mrs. Lottie Tate and Mrs. Verdie Rice, all of Burlington, and Mrs. Mona (Marvis) Busick of Browns Summit; and three brothers, Mr. Ervin Simmons, Mr. Elbridge Simmons and Mr. Brodie Simmons, all of Elon College.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. William Simmons.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Concord Christian Church by the Rev. Keith Murray, pastor, and the Rev. C. Allen Myers II, pastor of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hattie Smith, Simmons Road, Elon College.3, Mr. Robert Washington Simmons
