Ervin Scott Simmons


ELON – Ervin Scott Simmons, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at The Hospice Home surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 20, 1933 in Caswell County to the late Berry Washington Simmons and Bertha Minor Simmons, and was the husband of 62 years to Didama Hooper Simmons who survives.

Ervin retired from Tower Hosiery, and was a lifetime member at Bethel Christian Church. He was a treasured father and husband, a hard worker and enjoyed farming. Ervin was a humble and honest man.

Survivors other than his wife, Didama include his daughter, Connie Kimrey and husband, Ray; brother, Brodie Simmons and wife, Irene; sisters, Lottie Tate, Verdie Rice and Mona Busick; sister-in-law, Wanda Simmons and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William, Robert, and Elbridge Simmons and sisters, Hattie Smith and Edna Faison.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00am Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Bethel Christian Church outside by Rev. Barry Lane with the burial to follow at Concord Christian Church.

The family request for you to bring a lawn chair and dress comfortable. The family will receive friends at the home and the family asks that everyone please wear a mask.
