Robert Ivy Massey
BURLINGTON — Robert Ivy Massey, 67, of 313 E. Fifth St., died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at his home after an illness of one month. A native of Lenoir County, he was the husband of the late Lillie Jane Kemp Massey, and the son of Luther Edwin and Essie Amanda Ruffin Massey, both deceased. He was retired from the Carolina Paper Box Co. Survivors include four sons, James Massey of Burlington, Joseph Massey of Barnesville, Ga., and Robert Massey and Sammy Massey, both of Zephyrhill, Fla.; a daughter, Ms. Jane Marie Massey of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Norma Jackson of Elm City, Mrs. Zilphie Tice of Everett, Pa., and Mrs. Lena Huskey of Newport News, Va.; two brothers, John Frank Massey of Williamsburg, Va., and Luther “Tommy” Massey of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Massey, Walter Massey, Raymond Massey and Clarence Massey. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bruce Readling, pastor of Christian Bible Fellowship. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family will be at the residence.
