Mr. Herbert Franklin Roney
BURLINGTON – Mr. Herbert Franklin Roney, 65, of 1709 Deep Creek Church Road, died
Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Liberty Commons of Alamance after a long illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Eunice “Peggy” Shambley
Roney and the son of Mr. Clyde Ruffin Roney and Mrs. Nina Faulkner Roney, both deceased.
He was retired from Mewman-Whitney of Greensboro. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World
Warr II and a member of Harvest Hills Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Dawn “Skip” Roney) Pope; and eight sisters, Mrs.
Virginia R. kernodle, Mrs. Betty Lou R. Cheek, Mrs. Delores Ann R. Boone, Mrs. Shelby R.
Aldridge, Mrs. Becki R. Jarvis, Mrs. Doris R. Perry, Mrs. Nancy R. Thomas and Mrs. Sarah R.
Pickard, all of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Rhonda R. Stainback; two sisters, Mrs. Alene R.
Christopher and Mrs. Pauline R. Caudle; and five brothers, Mr. Ralph N. Roney, Mr. James D.
Roney, Mr. William Chesley Roney, Mr. Paul Boone Roney and Mr. Curtis Ruffin Roney.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at West Burlington Church of God by the
Rev. Olin Tatum, pastor, and the Rev. Jerry Towe, pastor of Harvest Hills Church of God.
Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Elon College.
The family will be at West Burlington Church of God from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times
at the home of the daughter, 2301 Wood Duck Drive, Graham.
Memorials may be made to West Burlington Church of God or to Harvest Hills Church of God.
Bartlett Funeral Home in Gibsonville is in charge of arrangements.
