James H. “J.H.” Arey Jr.
LIBERTY — Mr. James H. “J.H.” Arey Jr., 71, of 6247 Kimesville Road, Liberty went home to be with his Lord on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 3 p.m.
A native of Alamance County,hewasthehusbandofDelores Hudson Arey, who survives and the son of James Haywood Arey Sr. and Viola Harwood Arey, both deceased. He retired from General Electric in Mebane where he worked for over 25 years as a tool and die maker. J. H. was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he served as an Administrative Board member, Trustee and was devoted to the Boy Scouts there for many years in various positions. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and helping others, but above all, he loved his Lord and his family.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Jamie A. Hinshaw (husband Carl) and Laura A. Arey; three sons, Dwight V. Arey, David H. Arey (wife Kathy) and Tracy L. Arey (wife Melinda); six grandchildren, Samuel Arey, Scott Hinshaw, Katie Hinshaw, Rebekah Arey, Alex Arey, Daniel Hinshaw and soon to be expected child of Tracy and Melinda; two sisters, Norma Jean Johnson and Vonda Garner; and one brother, Richard Arey.
He was preceded in death by a daughterin-law, Lisa F. Arey.
The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Todd Struble. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
