GIBSONVILLE — Bertha Gilliam Herbin , 93, of 8116 Troxler Mill Road, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Blumenthal’s Rehabilitation Center after eighteen months of declining health.
A native of Alamance County and a lifelong resident of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late A. Norman Herbin and the daughter of William Henry Gilliam and Effie Leona Kernodle Gilliam, both deceased.
She was a lifetime homemaker, a gifted needle crafter and seamstress. Her needlework adorns many homes and churches throughout Alamance and Guilford counties. She was a devoted member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she was an honorary member of the administrative board, honoree of the United Methodist Women, pianist and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include three daughters, Becky Dixon and husband Jim of Brown Summit, Theresa Apple and husband Richard of Brown Summit and Patty Herbin of Gibsonville; one son, Alvin N. Herbin and wife Virginia of Gibsonville; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgranddaughter.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening and at other times at the homes of children.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro.
Special appreciation is extended to Becky Manning for her loving support of our Mom; to the Hospice Care Team of Tommie Owens, Beth Mills and Amy Cooke. Also the family extends thanks to Mrs. Annie Mae Herbin for her assistance in caring for their Mom. 3, Bertha Gilliam Herbin
