GIBSONVILLE - Howard Vance Oliver, 82, passed away Saturday January 2, 2021 at the Hospice Home. He was born March 6, 1938 in Guilford County to the late William Thomas and Heneretta Bradner Oliver and was married to Dora Shular Oliver for 60 years.
Vance retired from NC DOT as a truck driver. He was a member of the Baptist Temple. He enjoyed drinking coffee and talking cars with his buddies. He loved working in his yard and his John Deere mower. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Dora Shular Oliver; daughter, Teresa (Kevin) Roney; son, Darrell (Christy) Oliver; grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Roney-Barefield , Justin Oliver, Jordan Oliver; Two great-grandchildren; a sister Barbara Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Shelby Jean Jacobs; siblings, Wilson Oliver, Bradner Oliver, Roy Oliver, Tom Oliver, Matilda Frazier, Mary Jobe, Nancy Smith and Martha Key.
The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Don Carter. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. You are welcome to attend the service using masks and social distancing or you may watch it live on the funeral home’s website.
Mr. Oliver will be available for viewing 8:30 – 1:45 PM Tuesday prior to the funeral.
