Hazel Dell Barker Apple, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Liberty Commons.
She was born in Rockingham County on June 18, 1931 to the late Willie Pinkney and Ella Martin Barker and was the wife of 55 years to the late Elver Whitt Apple.
Hazel worked for Carolina Biological for 51 years until she retired at the age of 85. She was a longtime member of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and choir member. She also served on numerous committees and helped with many projects such as making candies and stew. She was faithful, dedicated, independent and always involved. Hazel enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Ray Apple (Jean), Kim Dale Apple (Brenda); grandchildren, Craig Apple (Chris), Brian Apple (Christy), Valerie Apple, Brandon Apple (Chelsea); great grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Mason and Boone Apple and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, infant Jack, Billy and Gilmer Barker.
A service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church by Rev. Kristen Levens and Rev. Randy Wellford with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
