BURLINGTON – Sarah Jane Leath, 92, of Burlington died at the Coble Creek Healthcare Center at Twin Lakes Community on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of John Anderson Leath and Hortense Rimmer Leath, both deceased. Ms. Leath retired from the Greensboro City School System after teaching in Burlington for most of her career at Broad Street Middle School and Turrentine Middle School. She enjoyed playing Bridge and dancing and traveling with friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington.
Survivors include two nieces, Susan Leath Walton of Burlington and Melissa Anne Leath of Louisville, KY; two nephews, John Burch Leath, Jr. of Burlington and Mack Rimmer Leath, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Lucy Horne Leath of Louisville, KY; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Burch Leath, Sr., Mack Rimmer Leath and Frank A. Leath; sister, June Leath Huntley; and sister-in-law, Hazel Stadler Leath.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. by Dr. Terry Peele.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 400 South Broad Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
