NOTE:

Mis-information on name...researched by:
Kent Smith
The mis-information may have come from the marker plaque posted to her memorial that lists her as Agnes Tallon Denny. From what all I can find, that may have come from an incorrect translation of her husband's will, where some say that the will says "Agnes, I allow....." and it was transcribed as Agnes Tallon. Below is what the actual will says with the I allow BEFORE her name:

James Denny's Will is accessible on the North Carolina Probate Records section 1735-1790, for Guilford County Wills (1771-1813), Vol. A, page 94 (image 56 of 227). The full paragraph that mentions Agnes reads: "Thirdly all that remains of my estate from the above bequeathments I allow Agnes my wife and William my son to have an equal interest during the time of her natural life and at her decease I allow her part to become his property together with the plantation which I give and bequeath to my son William Denny his heirs and assigns forever. But if my dear wife would chuse rather to live with any other of her children I allow her to have her mare & saddle, her bed & wheel and five pounds in money each year during her life, and if any money remains after my debts are paid it shall be hers & at her death she may leave these articles to whom she will." I don't know what records exist that either confirm or refute Agnes' last name, but James' Will is not one of them.

Additional note by LoRetta Hughes:
I have not seen the original register of
their marriage record. The transcription
of the Maryland marriage record
list their names as follows
James Denny & Mary Aldren (3 TA-41)
In his will James names her as Agnes.

470, Mary Agnes Aldren Denny
