Hilda Talley Kernodle


    ELON — Mrs. Hilda Talley Kernodle, 81, of Elon, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at 5:25 p.m. at Twin Lakes Retirement Center following two years of failing health.
    A native of Mineral, Va., she was the wife of 51 years to the late John Lewis Kernodle and the daughter of Annie Waynick Talley and Horace Walter Talley and his wife Reva, all deceased.
    She retired from AT&T and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, where she was also a member of the Share and Care Group.
    Survivors include four sisters, Jean Underwood of Gibsonville, Mary Ann Faucette (Holt) and Carol Stewart, all of Burlington and Kaye Williamson (Larry) of Gibsonville; three brothers, Terry Talley, Tommy Talley (Connie) of Elon and Ricky Talley of Burlington; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Talley and Tony Talley and two brothers-in-law, Owen Underwood and Charlie Stewart.
    The funeral service will be conducted at Bethlehem Christian Church on Thursday, March15,2012, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Matthew Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich &Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the home of Jan Bouldin, 803 Stoney Creek Church Road, Burlington, NC.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 127, Altamahaw, NC 27202 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
