Lennie Waynick Lambeth
BURLINGTON — Lennie Waynick Lambeth, 92, of 202 Markham Street, died on Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Duke University Medical Center.
Mr. Lambeth was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Lennie Lambeth and the late Iola Mae Waynick Lambeth Varner.
He was the husband of the late Thelma Mary Gentry Lambeth.
Mr. Lambeth was employed for several years with Chadburn Hosiery Mills as a full fashion knitter. Lennie managed three grocery stores for Byrds’ Food in their inception. He later was the manager of the Stop Shop Super Market. He was a faithful member of The First United Methodist Church of Elon. He was a member of the Men’s Bible class, the Methodist Men and former member of the Board of Stewards and the choir where he sang for over 50 years. Lennie’s hobbies included singing, working in his yard and furniture refinishing with the help of his wife. He taught a course at Alamance Community College for several years sharing his knowledge of furniture refinishing.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Gala Lambeth Suggs and her husband, Graham of Burlington; son and daughter-in-law, Jack Wesley Lambeth and his wife, Donna of Arlington, Virginia; grandchildren, Walter B. Lewis, Wayne P. Lewis, John Wesley Lambeth, Amy Christine Marchant and Lambeth Varner; great-grandchildren, Kelly Lewis, Hunter Lewis, Anneli Lambeth, Ian Lambeth, Jonathan Marchant and Nicholas Marchant; sister, Ramona White of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and grandson, William T. Lewis, sister, Jewel Tillman.
The funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Elon, Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Randy Maynard officiating.
The burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. Other times the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Elon, 1630 Westbrook Avenue, Elon, NC 27244. [15094]
