Mamie Matkins
YANCEYVILLE — Mamie Smith Matkins, 84, formerly of 136 U.S. 158 West, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden.
She was born in Davidson County, May 17, 1917, to Ivey A. and Dodie McCarn Smith. She was educated in Davidson County Schools. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Matkins of Salisbury, Md. and Cliff Matkins of Sugar Land, Texas; a brother, Gale Smith of Lexington; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Calvin Matkins, June 13, 1996.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Claude Harrelson. Interment will be in Reidlawn Cemetery in Reidsville.
The family will receive friends at Harrelson Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
