Obituary Online notes for Annie Lois COBB
Anna Lois Bulla, a former Concord teacher, fondly remembered by many Cabarrus County citizens, transitioned from this life to the next following a brief illness.

The funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, Concord, with the Revs. Andy Langford and Susannah Pittman officiating.

Anna Lois was "Miss Cobb" when she began her teaching career in Star Town, N.C. After moving to Concord she met, and in 1949, married Robert Chapman Bulla.

She taught Home Economics and Biology in Concord for 37 years, also managing the high school cafeteria for 17 of those years. In addition to memories of learning from her, there are those who still recall membership in her Grub Club or comment on the pretty scarves she wore. Her legacy of deep caring for students will live on through the Anna Lois and Robert C. Bulla Scholarship Fund to be established to assist Concord High youth who want to pursue higher education. Mrs. Bulla was active in community and church. For five summers, she was a dietician at Old Mill Girl Scout Camp in Greensboro. She participated in Cabarrus County Retired School Personnel programs and projects and was president of the Concord unit of the NC Educators Association. She was the 1981 president of BPW and a charter member of Alpha Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, also serving as its president. A DKG Scholarship was named in her honor. She was a member of the Coltrane Harris Chapter of UDC, a charter member of the Sidney Lanier Book Club, and a member of the Cabarrus Black Boys chapter of DAR. For years, she was a hospital volunteer.

At Central United Methodist Church, as a member of the Ellen Pemberton Sunday School class, she was instrumental in establishing the Hildreth Jordan Scholarship fund. She was a charter member of the Estaline Clark Circle, for many years its Chairman, and also served as church literature secretary. She was 2002 to 2003 president of the UMW. In 2013, the 25th of June was declared Anna Lois Bulla day in Concord, and she was presented a key to the city by Mayor Scott Padgett.

Anna Lois was born June 25, 1919, in Boone Station Township of Alamance County, N.C.

Her parents were Wiletta Blanch Summers Cobb and John Daniel Franklin Cobb.

Several years after her mother's early death, she moved into the home of her Aunt Tum and Uncle Jake Clapp.

She started grade school in Gibsonville, graduated high school in McLeansville, N.C. and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Greensboro College.

She grew up attending Friedens Lutheran and Bethel Presbyterian Churches in Guilford County.
