Florence Boswell Matkins
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Florence Boswell Matkins , 90, died at Liberty Commons on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Lenial G. Matkins Jr. and the daughter of William Lafayette Boswell and Rosa Rudd Boswell, both deceased. She was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women, a former Girl Scout leader, an avid bridge player, and a former member of the Garden Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Janice Whitlatch and husband, John of Burlington; two grandsons, Jason Whitlatch and wife, Lindsey and Jonathan Whitlatch; two greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle B. Madren of Burlington and Mrs. Frances B. Gilliam of Burlington; and one brother, Mr. G. Elbridge Boswell of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Alton Boswell, Aubrey Boswell, John L. Boswell, and Mr. James W. Boswell.
The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 18, 2005 by Dr. H. Sidney Huggins III.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 2 until 3 p.m. today, prior to the service. Other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Janice Whitlatch, 1015 Edgewood Ave., Burlington, N.C. 27215.
