Mrs. Florence Apple Cheek
ELON — Mrs. Florence Apple Cheek, of 1657 Gibsonville-Ossipee Road, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Liberty Commons after an illness of 10 months.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Mr. Holt Cheek, who survives, and the daughter of the late Earley Apple and Hattie Payne Apple. She was a certified nursing assistant and was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a sister, Mrs. Richard (Lula) Cook of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Elton Apple of Elon and Mr. Elver Apple of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Pauline A. Apple, Mildred A. Ingle, Elwood Apple, Wilbert Apple, and Milton Apple.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Green, and the Rev. Laura Green. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
