Mr. William Crawford Hobgood
BURLINGTON — Mr. William Crawford Hobgood, 77, of 2634
Saunders Road, died at 7:53 p.m. Oct. 3, 2002, at Duke University
Medical Center.
Mr. Hobgood was retired from BellSouth and was a member of the
Pioneers of Southern Bell. He was a member of Lakeview Community
Church, a former Lakeview Civitan and was a member of the
Alamance Wildlife Club. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during
World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie S. Hobgood of the home; three
daughters, Mrs. Deborah Huffines of Sandston, Va., Mrs. Cynthia Holt
of Burlington, and Mrs. Gail Watson of Mebane; two sisters, Mrs. Ella
Gray Mayse of Chapel Hill and Mrs. Oretha Isley of Gibsonville; and six
grandchildren, Miss Shari Huffines of Richmond, Va., Miss Beth
Huffines of Buggs Island, Va., and Tate Holt, Miss Tina Holt, and
Brandon Hyler, all of Burlington, and Miss Stacy Hyler of Mebane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Preston Hobgood
and Mrs. Madeline Carnell Hobgood; and a brother, Mr. Frank Winston.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at
Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Reid Dickens, pastor of Lakeview
Community Church.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington
from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
