John Michael Russell Sr.
SNOW CAMP — Mr. John Michael Russell Sr., age 80, of 3647 Spanish Oak Hill Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Sidney Lee Russell Sr. and the late Emma Herndon Russell and was married to the late Ruth Basinger Russell, who died in 1992.
Mr. Russell was a self-employed landscaper and farmer and was of the Baptist faith. His shop provided the local community with a meeting place for all his neighbors and friends.
Mr. Russell is survived by his daughter, Bonnie R. Fuller and her husband Ray, of Snow Camp; his son, John M. Russell Jr. and his wife Pam, of Burlington; two grandchildren, Emily Jones and Kristin Fuller; and a brother, S. Lee Russell Jr., of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and a sister, Mary R. Dale.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery by the Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger. The family will receive friends after the service at his daughter’s home, 3647 Spanish Oak Hill Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
