Obituary Online notes for “Fount” Fountain Tillison LYNCH
Mr. Fountain "Fount" Tillson Lynch, 87, of Walkertown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Dec. 3, 1917, in Stokes County to the late Drew W. and Martha Martin Lynch. Mr. Lynch was a retired stonecutter from North Carolina Granite Corporation in Mount Airy and a Tobacco farmer i Stokes County in his earlier years. He was also a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church in Pinnacle and, upon moving to Forsyth County in 1959, he became a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown. He was well known in his community of Belews Creek and Walkertown for his study wooden handmade garden-tool handles, blue birdhouses, and other handmade wooden sculptures. Mr. Lynch was also an avid gardener and loved working with the soil and vegetable crops.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Charlie, Jessie, and Willie Lynch; and a sister, Bessie Doby.
Surviving are his wife, Opal Reynolds Lynch, of the home; a son, retired Forsyth County Sheriff's Department detective/chief polygraph examiner, Charles M. "Charlie" Lynch and wife, Alice F. Lynch, of Kernserville; a daughter, Lena M. Fulp and husband, Robert Gene Fulp, of Belews Creek Road, Walkertown; two grandchildren, Deborah Barr (John) of Covington, GA, and Dawn Godwin of Cary; five great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Ethel Smith, Lula Stewart, Lillian Doby, Ada Doby, and a twin sister, Ola Gordon.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, with Dr. Bobby Roberson and the Rev. Herbert Mabe officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville. The family requests that all memorial be made to the American Red Cross, Disaster Relief Fund, 690 Colliseum Driver, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
