Mr. Bobby Lex Newton
BURLINGTON — Mr. Bobby Lex Newton, 59, of 2329 Venie St., died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Tacoma Adventist Hospital in Greeneville, Tenn.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Louise Greeson Newton, who survives, and the son of the late Charles Clyde Newton Sr. and Pearl Irene Roberson Newton.
He was a truck driver for Heartland Express and was formerly with Burlington Industries Transportation and was associated with the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Winross Collectors Club of America, a former member of the Alamance Civitans, a lifetime member of the Greensboro Jaycees, and was a former member of Shamrock Golf Club.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Michelle Newton Isley of Jacksonville, Fla. and her husband, Frank, of Burlington and Miss Dana Lynn Newton and special friend, Mark Tyler, of High Point; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Jane Newton Gwyn and husband, Don, of Jamestown; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bunny Beasley Newton of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Charles Clyde “Bud” Newton Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. William N. Hoss, and the Rev. Richard W. McBride.
Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
