Mrs. Catherine Leath Phillips
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Catherine Leath Phillips, 76, of 704 Trail One, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Charles Dean Phillips and the daughter of Mr. William Lafayette Leath and Mrs. Swannie Tapscott Leath, both deceased. She was the former owner of the Sahara Motel in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and was a member of St. John’s New Mission United Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Mr. Michael Dean Phillips of Burlington and Mr. Charles Tapscott Phillips of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Mr. William J. Leath of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Tim Allen, pastor of St. John’s New Mission United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Stoney Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary one hour before the service, and at other times at the home.
