BURLINGTON — Leola C. Loy , 92, of 2635 W. Front St., died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a critical illness of three days. She was born in Alamance County, daughter of the late William Ervin and Bettie Ann Westmoreland Loy .
She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian United Church of Christ, where she served as a deaconess and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a great supporter of her community and numerous faith-based ministries throughout the world.
She is survived by her sister, Josie Loy Huey of Burlington; brothers, W.E. "Bill" Loy Jr. and F. Ervin Loy , both of Elon, D. Leige Loy of Paulsboro, N.J.; nieces, Jean Loy Toms, Geraldine Loy Sharpe, Diane Loy Somers, Patti Loy Barnes and Jan Loy Lynch; and nephews, Paul Huey, Reggie Loy , Marty Loy and Gary Loy .
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Howard Loy , Eugene Loy , Freeman Loy , Martin Leon Loy , Durward Loy and Keith B. Loy ; and sisters, Janice Loy Newman and Ruth B. Loy .
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at First Christian United Church of Christ by the Rev. Mark Nanney.
Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home.
