OBITUARIES Hilburn Caulder
LAUREL HILL — Hilburn Caulder , 76, of 8563 King David Drive, formerly of Burlington, passed away Monday, August 1, 2005, at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg after several weeks of failing health. He was the husband of Wanda McAllister Caulder , and the son of the late Alonzo L. and Hattie Threadgill Caulder . Hilburn was a native of Scotland County, and spent most of his adult life in Burlington. He was a graduate of Walter M. Williams High School, served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, retired employee from the City of Burlington after 30 years of service, and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home, sisters, Hattie "Lois" Byrd of Burlington, Margaret Brown and her husband, Russell, of Bennett, N.C.; a brother, A.L. Caulder Jr. and his wife, Alyce, of Campobello, S.C.; 11 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother James A. Caulder ; and a brother-inlaw, Walter T. "Jaybyrd" Byrd.
There will be a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. George M. "Jack" Phillips. The family will receive friends from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. prior to the service, and at other times at the home of Hattie "Lois" Byrd, 2917 Trail Six, Burlington.
