Julian “Sam” Thompson, 89, of Lexington, NC passed away at his residence on Monday, May 18, 2026.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Barbara Thompson, who survives and the son of Lonnie Albert Thompson and Sarah Ellen Stafford Thompson, both deceased.

He retired as the Director of Inspections for Alamance County.

Sam was a member of St. Mark’s Community Church.

In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include four daughters, Nell Phillips, Anita Crawford (Ted), Juliann Stutts, and Leslie Roberts (Jeff); six sons, Sammy Thompson (Norma), Jerry Isley (Benay), Joe Thompson (Sonja), Ricky Isley, Floyd Isley (Dean), and Lonnie Thompson; a sister, Alice Hadley; a brother, Henry Thompson (Marizelle); 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzie Thompson; a grandson, Michael Moser; a great grandson, Adam Jeffcoat; three sisters, Rachel Braxton, Dorothy Bunn, and Mary Norwood; and three brothers, Albert Thompson, Sabert Thompson, and Elmer Thompson.

A memorial service will be conducted at St. Mark’s Community Church on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. by Pastor Bob Disher with the family receiving friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
