GRAHAM — Mrs. Mary Lois Cooke Murray, 91, of Webster Road, Graham, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 1 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Sylvester “Ves” H. Murray and J. C. Brown, who survives. She was a retired beautician. Mrs. Murray was a member of Belmont Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir, Sunday school teacher and secretary of the Sunday school.
In addition to her husband, J.C., of the home, survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Nellie C. Massey of Burlington and Mrs. Patty C. Parrish of the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields; two brothers, Mr. Hurley F. Cooke and Mr. R. Lynn Cooke, both of Burlington; three stepchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mrs. Doris C. Hogan, Mrs. Mattie Belle Stout, Mrs. Annie Shepard, Mrs. Louise Isley and Mrs. Peggy Cauthren; and two brothers, Mr. Dwight L. Cook and Mr. Kermit L. Cook.
The funeral service will be conducted at Belmont Baptist Church on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Larry Janey. Burial will follow at Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Belmont Baptist Church on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the home of a niece, Shirlene Garner, 3056 Maple Avenue, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
