Brenda Hardy Sechrest

Brenda Hardy Sechrest went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Sechrest was born April 18, 1944 in Guilford County to the late Paul Lofton Hardy and Ruth Rumley Hardy.

She was the wife of 38 years to the late Melville Lee Sechrest.

She was a 1966 graduate of UNC-Greensboro, majoring in Elementary Education and also received a Master’s degree in Library Science from UNC-Greensboro in 1980. Mrs. Sechrest was a lifelong educator, working as a teacher, librarian and assistant principal.

After retirement, she worked at the law firm of Carruthers & Roth, PA. Mrs. Sechrest was a longtime member of Apple’s Chapel and served as a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include her sister, Shelby Hawkins (Wade); brother, Mark Hardy (Gail); nieces, Angela Hawkins, Emily Pickard (Tom), Dana Hardy; nephew, Christopher Hawkins; great nieces, Lauren Pickard and a great nephew, Warren Pickard.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Apple’s Chapel in Gibsonville by Pastors Dave Johnson and C. Allen Myers. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Apple’s Chapel or to any scholarship fund at UNC-Chapel Hill.
