YANCEYVILLE — John Delmas Chandler, 83, of 642 Oakview Loop Road, went to be with the Lord on Friday Dec. 14, 2012, at Alamance-Caswell Hospice Home after a period of declining health.
He was born in Caswell County on July 7, 1929, to James Yancey and Hattie Walters Chandler. He worked for Hanover Mills and other textile mills and retired from the ABC Board and he was a parttime farmer. He was a member of Oakview Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Lois Boone Chandler; sisters, Gertrude Bennett, Lillie Mae Walker, Willie Payne, Beatrice Sparrow, Lucille Wilson, Elsie Wrightenbury; and brothers, Jack Chandler and J.Y. Chandler.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Oakview Presbyterian Church, conducted by Bob Hillman with interment in the church cemetery.
Survivors are daughters, Robin C. Pritts and husband Troy, of Gibsonville, Donna C. Kimbro and husband Parks, Mona C. Conklin and husband Dale, all of Burlington; and son, John D. Chandler Jr. and wife Donna, of Reidsville. Also surviving are one sister, Julia Goodes of Burlington; and brother, Larry Chandler, of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert Chandler, Lisa Conklin Johnsen, Chandler Kimbro, Meredith Macey, Alex Kimbro, Danny Conklin, Anna Lois Pritts; and seven greatgrandchildren
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. atHarrelsonFuneralHomeand at other times at the residence, 642 Oakview Loop Road.
The family would like to thank the Oakview Community, family and friends for their love and support and special thanks to Dr. Janak Choksi and the cancer center staff for going above and beyond to care for their loving father, also thanks to caregivers Dennis Sellers and Willie Bigelow.
