Browns Summit - Irene Hatcher Jones, 84, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 28, 2014.

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel. Interment will follow immediately afterwards at Lake- view Memorial Park.

Irene was born July 9,1929 to the late Henry and Minnie Hatcher.

She spent her 50 year career with Belk Department Store working in several capacities. She was a faithful member of Camp Herman Baptist Church. She had a servant’s heart, al- ways putting others before herself. She also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and at Cone Hospital.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her sister, Alma; and her brother, William.

Survivors include her son, Reid Jones (Kim); daughter, Sandra Hicks (David); brother, Dewey Hatcher (Brenda); foster brother, Bobby Ballard (Debbie); grand- children Scott Hicks (Kim), Matthew Hicks (Natalie), Lindsay Hicks and Brandon Jones; and great-grandchildren Kalie and Madeline Hicks.

A special thank you to the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Burn Inten- sive Care Unit for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
