Elmer Leslie Shaw
BURLINGTON — Elmer Leslie Shaw, 86, of 1507 Garfield Road, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Guilford County, and the son of the late George Kenneth and Annie Bell Allred Shaw.
Elmer was retired from JDK Enterprises and was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Rumley Shaw of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Jane Shaw Burket and her husband, Roger of Aylett, Virginia; son and daughter-inlaw, Barry Allen Shaw and his wife, Jan of Malasia; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; sister, Mrs. Viola Shaw Anderson of McLeansville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Shaw Phipps and Myrtle Shaw Vestal; brothers, W. K., Walter, Fred, Harry and Perry Shaw.
The funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 5, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bob Felts, the Rev. Gary Gates, the Rev. Barry Lane, and Mr. Peter Sawyer. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and at other times at the home.
