Mrs. Nellie Murray Nifong
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Nellie Murray Nifong , 84, formerly of 296 Guilford Ave., died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, in Evergreens of Greensboro.
Mrs. Nifong was born July 12, 1922, in Orange County, a daughter of Louie and Mabel Rice Murray , and had been a resident of this area most of her life. She was a private duty nurse and kept foster children. She was of the Baptist faith and was married to Robert Nifong , who preceded her in death.
Surviving are daughters, Elaine Putman and husband, Dave, of Thomasville, Brenda Williams and husband, Tucker, of High Point, Carolyn Osian and husband, Pacifico, of Salisbury, and Linda Lanier of High Point; sisters, Sarah James and husband, Billy, of Mebane, Bessie Hoover and husband, John, of Graham, and Frances Holmes of Whitsett; a brother, George Isley and wife, Peggy, of Mebane; 17 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren; and 20 greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Peggy Hazelton and Nellie Kathleen Walker; a son, Robbie Nifong ; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Howard Pittman. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 this evening at the funeral home, and other times at the home of a daughter, Brenda Williams, 603 Copeland Ave., High Point.
