Ida Ruth Pickrell "Nanny" Simpson, 82, of 605 Grooms Rd. Reidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Sunday February 12, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital Greensboro, NC.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday February 15, 2012 in Reidlawn Cemetery.
A native of Reidsville, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Ellen Knowles Pickrell and had lived in Rockingham County her entire life. She was a retired employee of American Tobacco Company and later helped in the kitchen at the Reidsville Elks Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband Ira Lester Simpson, brothers: Roy Pickrell and Melvin Pickrell, and sister Frances P. Garrison.
Surviving: son: Michael Simpson and wife Anne of Reidsville, N.C., grandchildren: Alicia Anne Simpson of Reidsville, NC and Miranda Michelle Carter and husband Brad of Easley, SC., sister: Ruby Pickrell Simpson and husband Carl of Burlington, NC. There will be no formal visitation. The family will see friends at the home of her son 410 Knowles Rd. Reidsville, NC. Memorials may be made to The Rockingham County Animal Shelter P.O.
