OBITUARIES Edward  "Ed" Wayne Norwood 
    GRAHAM — Edward  "Ed" Wayne Norwood , 59, of 509 Mendel Terrace, died at 11:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 at Hospice Home in Burlington.
    He retired as a captain from the Graham Police Department where he served for 30 years, was a member of the Alamance County Rescue Unit and served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Graham. He also worked with the D.A.R.E. Program and at the Medical Warehouse at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Pentecostal church.
    Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rivers Norwood  of the home; two daughters, Theresa Arnette of Burlington and Brenda Murphy and husband Mitch of Mebane; foster daughter, Stacy Murphy; brother, Bruce Norwood  and wife Debra of Burlington; two sisters, Elaine Smith of Burlington and Sue Justice of Haw River; four grandchildren, Edward  Brian Hurdle and wife Tina, April Scott Reed and husband David, Shane Murphy and Jonathan Murphy; two great-grandchildren, Austin Hurdle and Alexis Hurdle; and special companion, his dog Graham.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward  and Aurtney Norwood .
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Revs. Kenny Godair and Larry Janey. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Graham.
    Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening, Sept. 25, 2005, at McClure Funeral Service in Graham, and other times at the residence.
