Mr. Billie  Wesley Phillips 

    MEBANE — Mr. Billie  Wesley Phillips , 77, of 1751 U.S. 70 East, died at 8:45 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell after several months of failing health.

    Mr. Phillips  was a native of Alamance County. He was husband of the late Frances Willis Phillips  and Elizabeth Peck Phillips , who survives and son of the late George Madison Phillips , Sr. and Eva Mae Pennington Phillips .

He was a US Air Force veteran and retired from AT&T after 38 years. He also ran Phillips  Accounting Services. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church, member of the church choir, taught Sunday School and was Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was the author of the book "Growing Up In Glencoe."

    Surviving other than his wife of the home are four daughters, Linda P. Hurdle and husband Brian of Elon, Janice P. Bray of Burlington, Donna P. Shore and husband David of Pfafftown, and Sheila N. Nelson and husband David of Charlotte; a son, Jim Nations and wife Peggy of Davie, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Tara Brown, Edward Brian Hurdle and wife Tina, Robbie Hurdle, Adam Nations, Leigh Ann Nations, Taylor Nelson, Jean-Claude Shore, Michelle Shore, and Victoria Nelson; two great-grandchildren, Austin Hurdle and Alexis Hurdle; a brother, Rev. George M. "Jack" Phillips , Jr. of Burlington; three sisters, Erma Dell Neal of Graham, Helen Holland and Faye Phillips  both of Burlington.

Mr. Phillips  was preceded in death by two brothers Delbert Phillips  and Cary Phillips ; and four sisters, Pearl Terrell, Opal Greeson, Jean Witherow and Mexie Wyrick.

    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Davis Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Dodson and Dr. Michael Hobbs officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence.
