George Howard Hucks

BURLINGTON - George Howard Hucks, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at ARMC. He was native of Alamance County and the husband of 64 years to Susie Durham Hucks who survives.
George retired from General Electric and was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a Mason and member of the Bula Lodge # 409. George was a longtime member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and member of the Friends Sunday School class. George was a former Sunday School teacher and Greeter for many years. George was an avid golfer playing with the Alamance Seniors. He was proud of his service to his country and devoted to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Durham Hucks of the home; daughter, Pat Greenwood and husband, C.B. of Winston Salem and a son, Keith Hucks of Burlington; grandchildren, Charlie (April) Greenwood and Julia Greenwood and great grandchildren, Mac and Win Greenwood; step brother, Bobby Todd of Norfolk, Virginia and a nephew, Joe Hucks of Cary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn Scarboro Hucks and Nettie Sartin Duke; daughter, Barbara Joyce Hucks Priemer; brother, Leon Leroy Hucks and a step brother, . Billy Todd.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Redding and Rev. Clarence Toney. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm-1:45 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home.
